Continuing Education and Skill Advancement

The Grand Haven Croquet Club offers a continuous program of clinics that are designed to enhance new and existing members’ skills and knowledge of the game. Our clinics, led  by qualified instructors, focus on a prescribed curriculum that is designed to help members play more effectively and lower their USCA handicaps.

High Handicap Shot Making Clinic (Monday Afternoon)

After completing the initial six beginner classes, graduates transition to the Monday Afternoon High Handicap Shot Making Clinic to perfect their skills under the supervision of instructors in small groups.  This clinic is followed by a coached game to put their skills into play.  Out of the game for a while?  Monday's Shot Making Clinic is a good clinic to refresh your shot making skills and get back in the game.

All Handicap Shot Making Clinic and Shot Selection Clinic (Wednesday Morning)

Wednesday Morning Shot Making and Shot Selection Clinic is open to all levels. These are hands-on sessions that focus on perfecting the basic shots as well as when and how to use them under game conditions. A series of drills and exercises are designed to sharpen approach shots and wicket shots.  Basic strategies are stressed through real games that are coached by the instructors. This Clinic is open to players of all handicaps.

Intermediate Shot Making & Strategy Clinic (Friday Morning)

The Friday Morning Clinic is designed to teach the more advanced strategies of Six Wicket Croquet and fine tune shot making so that these strategies can be successful. These strategies include learning and using the rules, running three and four ball breaks, game openings, deadness, Rover strategies, and tournament play. The Clinic is follow by a coached game for Clinic participants.  While anyone may monitor the Clinic, active participation is limited to handicaps of fourteen and under. This Clinic is led by some of our most competent tournament players.
